This summer, the Kilty&Co team returned once again to the South of France, a region that has truly become a second home for us. For the past three years, we’ve had the privilege of cooking for clients in some of the most stunning private villas in Mougins — and every visit feels like a new adventure.

Nestled just above Cannes, Mougins is a charming Provençal village known for its art, history, and incredible food culture. It’s a dream destination for any private chef. This summer, we were invited to cook for a lovely family in their private villa, creating daily menus for 8–15 guests, serving lunch and dinner each day — and of course, pairing each dish with carefully selected drinks and wines.
Market Mornings: Cooking with the Freshest Local Ingredients
Each morning began with a visit to the local markets — a true highlight of working as a private chef in the South of France. There’s something magical about shopping at sunrise, surrounded by the colours and aromas of Provençal life: crates of sun-ripened tomatoes, glistening seafood from the Mediterranean, and fragrant bunches of herbs picked fresh that morning.
We’d plan our daily menus around what was freshest and most inspiring that day — whether that meant a whole grilled sea bass with lemon and fennel, slow-cooked lamb with local vegetables, or vibrant Niçoise-style salads packed with summer flavour. On our way back to the villa, we’d always stop by the local bakery to collect freshly baked bread straight from the oven — still warm, with that irresistible smell that only true French boulangeries can deliver.
